The call for nominations to honor the influential women of Miami-Dade County is officially open. As detailed by a recent release from Miami-Dade County, nominations for the Miami-Dade County Women's Hall of Fame will be accepted starting today through May 30. This initiative aims to acknowledge the women whose leadership and accomplishments have profoundly shaped the community.

This annual recognition, established by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in 2021, is not just a mere accolade but a testament to the enduring influence of women who to tirelessly work to enhance the social, cultural, political, and economic landscape of Miami-Dade County. Interested parties can submit their nominations by including comprehensive information about the nominee’s work and their substantial contributions to the community's welfare. The CFW, which has been advocating for women's issues since 1971, encourages engagement from community members, civic organizations, and institutions in this process.

Those honored with induction will receive recognition at a County Commission meeting scheduled later in the year, according to the official statement. The inductees will also be permanently featured at the yet-to-be-completed Women’s Hall of Fame at The Women’s Park, thus ensuring their stories and legacies resonate with future generations.

The Office of Community Advocacy, under the Board of County Commissioners, operates the Commission for Women among its 12 advisory boards. The Office strives to actively ensure equal access and opportunities in its services and activities, and it also arranges accommodations such as sign language interpretation and accessible formats for participation in County-sponsored events. Dr. Rose Martin, the CFW Program Director, has encouraged individuals requiring such assistance to reach out to her at [email protected] or to call 305-375-4967.
