The Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry has resumed its normal operating schedule. Service had been adjusted in recent months after one of the ferries was sent to Cameron Parish to temporarily replace a vessel under repair.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), with both ferries now back in operation, regular service has resumed across the Mississippi River in Iberville Parish. The primary ferry runs Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., and on weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. The second ferry operates Monday through Friday from 5:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Motorists can check current ferry status by calling 511, using the Louisiana 511 mobile app, or visiting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) website. On the website, go to “Travel Information,” then “Modes of Travel,” followed by “Ferries and Moveable Bridges,” and select “Ferry Status.”
