North Lake Tahoe will start paid parking in Kings Beach on June 2. The updated pricing will include both all-day and short-term rates. The change is part of ongoing efforts to manage parking in the area, according to the County of Placer.

The Parking Management Program is expanding to include the Brook Lot on Brook Avenue, following last year’s pilot at the Christmas Tree Parking Lot. Paid parking at the Brook Lot will begin once a pay station is installed. Funded by the county’s transient occupancy tax through the TOT-TBID Dollars at Work initiative, the program sets rates at $10 for all-day parking from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., $2 per hour for up to two hours during the day, and $2 for evening parking from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., as reported by the County of Placer.

The County of Placer will hold a virtual meeting on Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to share information and gather feedback on the summer 2025 parking strategy. The meeting will include a presentation from the consultant team followed by a question-and-answer session. Additional meetings are scheduled for July, September, and November. The county has allocated over $1 million for parking program costs in partnership with the North Tahoe Community Alliance. Spanish translations are now available on signage and pay stations. Public input is also being collected through the Engage Placer portal.
