
Yesterday, a DUI-related rollover collision resulted in a fiery scene and subsequent arrest in Novato. At approximately 3:19 AM near the railroad crossing on Hamilton Parkway, Novato Police Department officers responded to the emergency, as reported in a Facebook post by the department. Both the driver and the passenger of the overturned vehicle were fortunate enough to escape, although they were left with moderate injuries and required hospital treatment.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Novato resident Shawn Kessler, was determined on-site to have been driving while under the influence. Though injured, his arrest was carried out at the hospital, pending a transition to Marin County Jail on charges of felony DUI causing injury.
Further complicating the tragedy, the Novato Police Department took the opportunity to reiterate an essential plea to the community: "Please do not drink and drive, especially this holiday weekend and keep in mind the severity of a simple decision."
