Last Friday, California Highway Patrol officers engaged in a pursuit that culminated in the retrieval of a loaded shotgun and the apprehension of a suspect. The CHP Oakland revealed in a social media post on Facebook that the incident began when officers noticed a white Acura TLX with no license plates driving recklessly close to San Leandro Street and 51st Avenue.
Upon attempting to perform an enforcement stop, authorities were led on a pursuit when the driver defiantly fled the scene. Ending near 94th Avenue and Lawlor Street, the suspect discarded a black bag in the bushes before finding temporary refuge inside a parked RV. Officers surrounded the area, and through negotiations, the individual eventually surrendered.
In the recovered black bag, officers found a loaded sawed-off shotgun. Further inspection of the Acura yielded a discovery: a backpack filled with multiple 20-gauge shotgun shells. The driver, now facing mounting charges including felony evading, resisting arrest, and numerous firearm violations, was booked into Santa Rita Jail, as per the CHP Oakland.
