Residents of Oakland, TN, remain alert following an attempted vehicle theft in the Fair Meadows Subdivision, which the Oakland TN Police Department is actively investigating. According to a social media post from the local police, the suspects—part of a larger group operating across Shelby, Tipton, and Fayette counties—were unsuccessful in stealing a high-end Challenger parked behind the town’s Kroger store. Video evidence shows that at least one of the suspects was armed during the attempted theft.
The Police Department urged locals to stay vigilant of their surroundings, hinting at the possibility that these suspects are scouting and possibly photographing their next potential targets. Officials are collaborating with neighboring jurisdictions as part of their investigation to prevent additional attempts by this criminal group.
Further efforts to solicit community assistance were articulated through the post, requesting homeowners in the vicinity to examine their security footage from the early hours of Wednesday. "They did not get away with this vehicle and no other vehicles within the city limits of Oakland were targeted," the department's post revealed.
The department expressed gratitude for the assistance while emphasizing the importance of vigilance. They advised owners of high-end Challengers or Chargers to remain aware of their surroundings.
