
Oklahoma City residents should keep an eye on the sky today as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Oklahoma City has forecasted a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm, with humidity standing at 84 percent and a southeast wind blowing at 10 to 14 mph, gusts may reach as high as 21 mph according to the latest weather update on NWS.
The temperature is said to hit a high near 87°F by day and slip to around 70°F tonight, maintaining a consistent chance of thunderstorms, the shift to the southeast will continue to drive the wind around 11 mph, the dewpoint hovers at a moderate 63°F (17°C), offering fair visibility of up to 10 miles, last recorded at 6:52 am CDT, this dynamic will persist through the weekend tomorrow likely to present showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm and a similarly high probability of precipitation through Memorial Day.
Looking ahead to Memorial Day, the likelihood of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm remains high at 70 percent, with temperatures expected to drop to a more mild 75°F, while those planning evening activities should prepare for continued showers and a potential thunderstorm, reinforcing the pattern of unsettled weather that has marked the month's close.
As the week progresses, there will be reprieves with a 20 percent chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, before likelihood increases again Thursday through to Friday, however, individuals should remain vigilant as the NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch 315—remaining in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning for 17 counties in central, east central, northern, southeast, and southern Oklahoma — which includes, but not limited to, the cities of Oklahoma City, Norman, and Moore, as posted in their recent notification for watch.
