A police chase in southwest Oklahoma City ended yesterday afternoon when a stolen Amazon delivery truck became disabled on train tracks, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
According to KFOR, the truck was stolen while an Amazon employee was making a delivery near Newcastle Road and South Portland Avenue. The employee reported finding 43-year-old Melvin Bishop in the driver’s seat. Despite being asked to leave the vehicle, Bishop drove off.
A police pursuit began shortly afterward. During the chase, the suspect drove onto railroad tracks near Southwest 29th Street and Portland Avenue. The vehicle's tires were damaged, causing it to stop, as per News 9 report.
KOCO reported that officers used pepper spray to remove Bishop from the truck. He was taken into custody without any reported injuries. The Amazon vehicle, an electric delivery truck, was left inoperable on the tracks due to the damage.
