A man has been arrested following a shooting incident at a Mobil gas station in Pembroke Pines, which police say stemmed from a dispute between a tenant and his landlord. The altercation took place yesterday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of Flamingo Road and Taft Street, as per officers who responded to the scene. WSVN reports that the tenant, Jose Rodriguez-Julio, 32, now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police, the dispute led both individuals to agree to meet at the gas station, where Rodriguez-Julio, carrying a gun, approached his landlord's vehicle. In response, the landlord, fearing for his life, armed himself and fired shots at Rodriguez-Julio. No one was struck by gunfire during the incident, but the situation prompted a police advisory for the public to avoid the area during the investigation, as stated by NBC Miami. Following the confrontation, Rodriguez-Julio fled the scene but surrendered to law enforcement shortly thereafter.

The scene of the shooting was scrutinized by detectives, who investigated both a white SUV, exhibiting six bullet holes in the driver’s side window and another through the windshield, and a white pick-up truck – vehicles associated with the altercation and later towed away. The investigation into the incident continues, with both parties involved having been armed, which raises questions about the nature of their dispute and their choice of a public gas station as the venue for their meeting.

Rodriguez-Julio is presently in custody, and while the charges suggest a violent encounter, the lack of physical injury in the incident may play a role in the subsequent legal proceedings.
