A woman in Peoria sustained a gunshot wound to her foot late Sunday night in an incident that is currently under investigation by local authorities. As reported by Central Illinois Proud, the Peoria Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 11:42 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Arago Street. Despite ShotSpotter— a gunfire detection system—indicating three shots had been fired, upon arrival, officers initially found no victims.

Continuing their search, officers later located a 30-year-old woman about a mile away in the 2000 block of South Friedan Street. The woman, discovered by police with a gunshot wound, was quickly taken to the hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. Semone Roth, a police spokeswoman, told Central Illinois Proud, "The victim was found about a mile away from where the ShotSpotter alert was registered."

25News reported that the incident occurred on the night of Sunday and police were dispatched following the ShotSpotter technology's alert. As of their last report, there was no suspect information, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
