A fire that broke out in a Phoenix apartment complex has displaced 13 people after crews were dispatched to the scene Wednesday morning. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the blaze started around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of 45th Street and Cactus Road.

Upon arriving, firefighters found the first two floors engulfed in flames, with the fire quickly extending to the third. They managed to get the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further. During this emergency, "Two people including a child were able to get out of the fire on their own and were evaluated, treated, and transported to the hospital in stable condition for smoke inhalation," as per FOX 10 Phoenix. No firefighters were reported to be harmed.

The community was shocked by the intensity of the fire. Rex Salthun, a witness, recounted to FOX 10 Phoenix how the heat could be felt some 50 feet away. People like Logan Linde sprang into action, "We just tried to knock on all the doors throughout the apartment complex to try to tell people get out, there’s a fire," Linde told FOX 10 Phoenix.

The aftermath of the fire has left the affected residents without a place to call home, prompting the Community Assistance Program to step in to assist with their needs. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials stating that they are yet to determine the source. "Investigators are working to learn more," as reported by 12 News. The identities of the injured individuals have not been released, and further details on the extent of damage to the property are still emerging.
