A violent incident claimed the life of 73-year-old Jack Olsen on the morning of May 2 in a North Phoenix neighborhood. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, police arrested 38-year-old Daniel Kohls after he reportedly confessed to stabbing Olsen, his girlfriend's father, in a home situated near SR 51 and Bell Road around 11:45 a.m.
New court documents revealed that Kohls told investigators he was angered by the way his girlfriend had been treated by her father. This led to the tragic outcome wherein Kohls employed two different knives in the stabbing. After the stabbing, Kohls attempted to wash away the evidence in a shower. His girlfriend found the opportunity to alert the authorities by dialing 911. Kohls now faces charges of first-degree murder as the aftermath of his actions sets in.
Earlier reports from KOLD News 13 provided an initial account of the episode, detailing how Phoenix police responded to an “unknown trouble” call at the corresponding time in a neighborhood bordering 32nd Street and Bell Road. Upon arrival, officers were confronted with the haunting scene of Olsen's lifeless body bearing the marks of multiple stab wounds.
A witness propelled the investigation, quickly naming Kohls as the individual responsible for the stabbing, leading to a manhunt that concluded with Kohls' capture in a nearby parking lot, where the suspect's frenzied flight ended as the law laid its grip upon him. Kohls' subsequent statements to detectives established a connection between him and the crime, leading to his booking on murder charges.
