Last night, residents of the Summit Chase apartments in the Cedar Bluff Community were abruptly disrupted as a fire broke out, prompting a prompt response from Rural Metro Fire. According to a social media post from the Rural Metro Fire, the alarm was raised at approximately 9:47 pm, and upon their arrival, firefighters encountered a residence issuing smoke. The crews were able to contain and extinguish the flames within a mere 13 minutes.
The effort to clear the smoke from the area, however, took slightly longer. During the firefighting operations, firefighters evacuated several units, but residents were able to return to their homes later that night, the fire department stated. In a turn of a more personal nature, crews found one dog needing resuscitation and were in search of another, their efforts reflecting the often-overlooked toll such incidents take on our four-legged friends. One occupant was displaced due to the fire but was reported not to have sustained any injuries.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is still under investigation.
