In a notable career progression within the City of Conyers, Rebecca Hill has been appointed as the new director of the Georgia International Horse Park (GIHP), following a recent announcement by Conyers City Manager Kameron Kelley. Hill's ascension to this position comes after serving as the deputy director since July 2024, a role she assumed prior to the retirement of Jennifer Bexley, who had led GIHP for over two decades.
Rebecca Hill, who began her commitment to the city in 2003, has held various responsibilities, including assisting with business operations, managing the venue, and spearheading employee engagement — a testament to her versatility and dedication. Hill is no stranger to the intricacies of GIHP, having immersed herself in budget planning and other critical operational functions within the facility. These stints of service have culminated in her recent promotion to oversee the sprawling 1,400-acre facility, her education from Young Harris College and the University of Georgia has been integral to her journey, according to a statement from the City of Conyers.
Hill's credentials are robust, marked by her association with industry groups such as the League of Agriculture and Equine Centers and her distinction as a Certified Manager of Equine Centers gained in 2024. Additionally, she is a member of the International Association of Venue Managers and in 2023, she completed training with the organization's Venue Management School. Hill also holds a Tourism Marketing Professional certification from the Southeast Tourism Society. Her accolades from the city include receiving the prestigious 2007 Dee Buggay Award of Excellence (Employee of the Year), and she is an alumnus of Leadership Rockdale.
