Rice County residents planning to drop by the Government Services Building or Highway Department this summer will need to adjust their schedules. According to Rice County, starting May 19 through September 26, both facilities are shifting to summer hours.
The update, which was approved by the Board of Commissioners last month, states that offices in the two buildings will be accessible from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and on Friday, they will close early at noon, this change will allow for extended weekend leisure for both staff and the community. Full-time employees will maintain their usual 40-hour workweek, ensuring that the change in public access does not impact the workload or service provision.
While you're marking your calendars, be aware of the upcoming state holidays when these offices will also be shut: Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19, Independence Day on Friday, July 4, and Labor Day on Monday, September 1, as detailed by Rice County.
