
An incident in Roseland involving an off-duty Chicago police officer has resulted in multiple charges against a local man. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 42-year-old Martese Hudson has been charged with a felony count of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, in addition to two misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of domestic battery following a domestic disturbance that escalated early Monday morning.
Reports indicate that the off-duty officer, having heard a commotion from the basement of a residence on the 10600 block of South LaSalle Street around 3:05 a.m., responded by going upstairs where he was confronted. The officer, during the disturbance, found himself and a 41-year-old woman allegedly threatened by Hudson at gunpoint. In the ensuing altercation, the officer discharged his firearm, striking Hudson multiple times, CBS Chicago reported.
Hudson was later transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, where he was also taken into custody, as per the Chicago Sun-Times. He was due to appear in court for a detention hearing today.
