This coming Memorial Day, the City of Round Rock in partnership with the Round Rock Veterans Coalition is set to honor the men and women who have died in military service to the United States. The community is warmly invited to join in the remembrance ceremony which will take place on Monday, May 26 at Old Settlers Park, as reported by the City of Round Rock official news release.
The event will commence at 10 a.m. at Yonders Point Flag Plaza, located at 3103 Aten Loop. In honor of those who have sacrificed, Major General Michael McCurry, the Chief of Staff of the Army's future-readiness branch, is to notably provide remarks. It marks a moment for the Rock Round community to solemnly reflect and to also critically look forward to the sustaining promise of our future defense.
A highlight of the ceremony is an honorary flyover by the Falcon Flight Formation Team. This team holds a special connection to the locale, as it was founded by the late Stuart McCurdy, a Round Rock resident and retired Air Force fighter pilot, adding a poignant touch of local legacy to the tribute.
The Memorial Day event is more than an annual tradition; it is a sacred space for communal grieving and shared respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. As the planes soar overhead, they will, in trail of smoke and the roar of engines, symbolize the enduring spirit of service that defined the heroes we gather to remember. This ceremony offers residents a moment to come together and collectively hold to honor the full weight of that legacy.
