Golden Gate Park is set to transform into a psychedelic rock haven for three unforgettable days in August, thanks to a major milestone: the Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary celebration. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie took to social media to announce the news, and Dead & Company are scheduled to provide the tunes from Aug. 1-3.

For those keeping track, the last time the Grateful Dead alumni, featuring Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, alongside John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and Jay Lane, graced the city with their presence was back in 2023 at Oracle Park. This summer's shows are pegged as somewhat of an encore to these performances, drawing fans and locals alike to the epicenter of where it all began. The upcoming concerts honor the foundational 1965 moment when Lesh, Garcia, Kreutzmann, Weir, and McKernan jammed out as the Warlocks before becoming the Grateful Dead. As an aside, these concerts will also stand as a heartfelt nod to the late Phil Lesh, who passed away in 2024, as cited by the San Francisco Chronicle.
As Mayor Lurie succinctly put it, prepare for more details from the band soon as the city gears up to pay homage to the legendary rockers. "Stay tuned for more details from the band coming soon," Lurie said, per the San Francisco Chronicle.
