The San Francisco Police Department has made an arrest in the recent Mission District homicide. Officers responded to a residence on the 3000 block of 26th Street last Friday around 12:42 PM following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
In their pursuit, the SFPD Homicide Detail identified 21-year-old Trayvon Williams of San Francisco as the suspect. The efforts to locate Williams spanned beyond city limits, culminating in his arrest yesterday in Novato. A collaboration effort between the SFPD, Novato Police Department, and Marin County Special Weapons and Tactics led to the successful apprehension and booking of Williams on a murder charge, as noted by the SFPD.
A concurrent social media post from the Novato Police Department detailed the joint operation and complemented the narrative. They confirmed that Williams, linked to a "violent homicide involving a firearm," was arrested in the Ignacio area after the SFPD tipped them off to his location. The Novato Police thanked their partners at the San Francisco Police Department, San Rafael Police Department, and Central Marin Police Authority for their support.
Before the arrest was made, local news outlets were reporting on the troubling occurrence. A Hoodline article from the day of the incident outlined the initial facts. Before making any arrest, the SFPD's statement encouraged the public to provide any information relevant to the case.
The SFPD confirms that while an arrest has been made, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains active and ongoing. Individuals with knowledge about the incident can still contribute by contacting the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or sending a text message tip, beginning with "SFPD" to TIP411.
