The Del Sol Building at 670 N Main Street is set for a transformation into a Goodwill store, a move that promises to generate 40 jobs while offering residents a place to find affordable goods and drop off donations.
Renovations for the multimillion-dollar project are slated to begin this upcoming summer, with a ribbon-cutting expected in 2026. In addition to providing job opportunities and affordable shopping options, the project contributes to the ongoing revitalization of the Main Street corridor. Local officials are showing their support, with Armando Esparza, Director of Economic Development and Government and Foreign Affairs, expressing excitement about the project. "We are thrilled to welcome a second Goodwill location in our city," he stated, emphasizing the progress it represents for the area, as detailed by the City of San Luis.
The new Goodwill store will feature a range of items including clothing, household goods, and electronics, aiming to cater to a variety of shoppers and donors. The one-stop-shop model is designed to streamline the process of donating and shopping, offering convenience along with the promise of bargain finds.
Community members and city officials like Council member Luis Cabrera are eager to see the increased commercial activity on Main Street. "We are excited to continue to see increased commercial activity on Main Street," Cabrera said at the ICSC meeting, per the City of San Luis' announcement.
