Sandy Springs residents are invited to help shape the future look of the city’s commercial areas. The city is developing new design guidelines and wants public input. Slated for Monday, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., this gathering will be hosted at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center in the Studio Theatre Lobby, located at 1 Galambos Way, as per the Sandy Springs official website.
To ensure that everyone gets a say, there will also be options for those unable to attend the May 19th session. An online survey and exhibit materials will be available on the City’s Design Guidelines page starting the same day, with feedback accepted through June 9. For those who prefer in-person engagement, the city will also host a series of pop-up events at different locations and times across the community.
Residents can get an overview and share feedback at a series of upcoming pop-up events. The first is set for Saturday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Sandy Springs Farmers Market in City Springs. Later that day, another event will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at Morgan Falls Overlook Park in the North End. On Sunday, May 18, the final session will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hammond Park, focusing on the Perimeter area, as detailed by the City of Sandy Springs.
The initiative, launched by the City of Sandy Springs, is set to establish design guidelines covering six principal commercial and mixed-use areas including City Springs, Crossroads, Neighborhood Village, North End, Perimeter, and Powers Ferry. The essence of this undertaking, is to align future development with the city's already adopted planning blueprints and zoning laws, while fostering a distinctive character within Sandy Springs.
