
An 18-year-old driver has been charged with manslaughter after a UTV crash on Sauvie Island resulted in the death of a juvenile passenger yesterday morning. According to KGW, the driver, identified as Ayden Heard, was arrested following the incident that occurred on private property.
Heard, after being evaluated at a local hospital, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, as reported by KPTV. The crash claimed the life of a girl who was riding as the passenger in the side-by-side utility task vehicle. Deputies arrived at the scene to find the juvenile female already dead in the early morning crash that shook the island community.
The East County Vehicular Crimes Team launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. Found dead at the scene, the juvenile female passenger's identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The outcome of the investigation led to multiple charges against the teenage driver, including second-degree manslaughter, as noted by KATU.
