A second man has succumbed to his injuries following a shooting that transpired at a Roseland neighborhood business earlier this week. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 38-year-old Dexter Williams was declared dead on Tuesday afternoon after being shot in the head and forearm during an argument that escalated into gunfire. The incident took place in a business located on the first block of East 111th Street.
Initial reports from the Chicago police reveal that Williams and Monte Potts, a 34-year-old man, were engaged in an altercation with a third individual inside the business around 4:10 p.m. Monday. The dispute swiftly turned violent, and shots were fired. Potts, who suffered a gunshot wound to the back, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m. the same day, as noted by officials.
The ABC7 Chicago report identified Potts as a Chicago resident. Meanwhile, Williams, who was initially listed in critical condition, ultimately passed away from his injuries at the same medical facility.
The suspected gunman was taken into custody immediately following the incident. Police said the suspect, whose injuries were not specified, was in good condition when transported to Roseland Hospital. Charges have yet to be filed as the CPD Area Two detectives continue their investigation into the deadly confrontation.
