Security Guard Fires at Suspects During Westwood Home Invasion Near UCLA; One Detained, Three At Large

An early morning home invasion in Westwood ended with a security guard opening fire on a group of suspected burglars, according to Los Angeles law enforcement. Authorities were alerted to the incident in the 10400 block of Lindbrook Drive, mere blocks from UCLA, at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday. KTLA reports that the residents were home when the suspects entered.

The situation escalated when one of the suspects allegedly attempted to run over an on-site security officer, leading the guard to discharge their weapon. While shots were fired, no injuries were reported in the melee that ensued. FOX LA details that the security officer's intervention was crucial, as the family had taken refuge in their basement to elude the four men who broke in.

Following the confrontation, the police cleared the house and successfully detained one suspect. CBS Los Angeles noted that it was unclear if the suspects were injured or what, if anything, was stolen from the property.
