A devastating episode unfolded in the small town of Wellington, Utah, when a semi-truck hauling a tank trailer full of crude oil veered off the road and tore through the landscape before slamming into a residential home. This incident, which occurred early Monday morning, led to both the truck's passengers and the home's inhabitants being hospitalized.
The crash sparked a sequence of tumultuous events as the commercial vehicle (CV), initially traveling eastbound on SR-6, collided with half a dozen parked vehicles near an auto repair shop, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. After hurtling through an intersection and demolishing a utility pole and a fire hydrant, the truck proceeded to destroy fencing and careen across an open field before its final, destructive halt in the occupied house.
Among those affected, a twelve-year-old boy was fortunate to escape physical injury, while the elderly couple inside the home were not so lucky, struck by the truck as they were. Rescue efforts saw the truck's two occupants rushed to the hospital in varying conditions of urgency, described in the first responder lingo as Bravo and Charlie. The family of three, including the young boy, was also transported for medical attention.
