Sevier County Fire & Rescue teams were dispatched to a significant blaze at a residence located in the 3000 block of Newport Highway on Wednesday. According to a social media post by the Sevier County Fire & Rescue, firefighters managed to successfully bring the structure fire under control, fortunately reporting no injuries in the process.
The firefighting effort prompted a temporary shutdown of Newport Highway to safely accommodate the emergency response. The road was later reopened for public use. The collaboration was a sight to witness, drawing together multiple agencies including Catons Chapel Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, English Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, and several other local departments and services to quickly to handle the situation.
At this point, the origin of the fire remains a mystery. The Sevier County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently leading an investigation to determine the cause. Updates on the findings are anticipated but have not yet been provided.
Community support in the wake of the fire has been palpable, with residents and local businesses reaching out to assist those affected. While the family’s home was damaged, the quick response from the emergency teams exemplified the tight-knit community's readiness to act in the face of adversity.
