Sevier County in East Tennessee just added a new milestone to its list of attractions with the opening of America's longest zipline, aptly named the "MegaZip." This aerial adventure, part of WildSide Adventure Park, offers a one-mile flight at an exhilarating speed of up to 55 mph, starting from a whopping 2,400 feet in elevation. It invites thrill-seekers to a panoramic experience above the Smokies, as WVLT reported.
Mark Ezell, Tennessee's Commissioner of Tourism, experienced the MegaZip first-hand and praised its potential for enhancing tourism; he remarked, "Just terrific. What a ride, man. People need to experience WildSide," as told to WVLT. He emphasized the role such attractions play in attracting international visitors to Tennessee, which has grown to become the second fastest expanding state in the country over the last six years, owing much to the investments in new offerings in Sevier County.
The innovation doesn’t stop there, MegaZip's creators, Bob and Bryce Bentz, who are also the visionaries behind sister property Anakeesta, have set their sights on more than just soaring lines; they intend to expand their mountain biking trails and UTV tours as disclosed to WATE, recognizing the wild allure of the Great Smoky Mountains area, they've created WildSide as not just another park but a destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
The Mountain Press highlights the sheer scope of the MegaZip, stretching 5,771 feet with a vertical drop exceeding 1,000 feet. The zipline's opening is a testament to the Bentz family's ongoing commitment to innovation and dedication to adding value to Sevier County's tourist draw.
