A man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment in Shelby County after allegedly kidnapping a woman during a date. Jadea Gibson, 25, was detained by deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) yesterday, according to Action News 5. The arrest occurred one week after the reported kidnapping incident that transpired on Tuesday last week.

It was on Corkwood Drive in the Northaven area where the incident began swiftly to unravel. The victim, whose identity remains concealed, informed deputies that she had agreed to meet up with Gibson and subsequently found herself being forced to drive to Frayser against her will. She managed to escape by jumping out of the moving vehicle before running to safety, as highlighted by FOX13 Memphis.

Following an investigation by SCSO’s Violent Crimes Unit, a warrant for Gibson's arrest was issued. The Fugitive Apprehension Team would later locate and arrest Gibson without incident, as indicated in a statement acquired by Local Memphis. This arrest adds to Gibson's legal issues, as SCSO affirmed he was also out on a $10,000 bond for another kidnapping case at the time of the incident.
