Gunfire erupted in the streets of Antioch yesterday, sending one man to the hospital and prompting an investigation by the local police department. According to the Antioch Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Crater Peak Way following reports of a shooting at around 4:23 PM yesterday.
The victim, a 21-year-old male, was discovered with at least one gunshot wound to his arm. First responders acted quickly, with officers providing first aid to the wounded individual until paramedics arrived. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital and is reportedly stable. As of now, the identity of the victim remains withheld as officers continue to thoroughly canvass the area in hopes of uncovering any leads.
The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, but initial investigations suggest it was an isolated incident. The Antioch Police Department has firmly stated that this is an active case and, as such, is not providing additional details at this time.
