Commuters in St. Charles Parish, take note: the summer roadwork schedule has been released, and it's kicking off with a series of closures and construction projects that could impact your daily drive. Starting today, Barriere Construction will begin resurfacing work on selected roads as part of the St. Charles Parish Road Maintenance Program, according to the parish's official announcement. This includes patching, milling, and paving (overlay) efforts slated for various streets in Luling over the next two weeks.
Emergency vehicles will still manage to pass on Paul Fredrick Street between Canal Street and Hackberry Street, although planned patching from May 27 to May 30 could present delays for regular traffic. A similar situation will unfold on June 2 through June 5, with Gassen Street between Hackberry Street and the railroad tracks on the docket for repairs. And don't forget, North Oak Court will be undergoing patching on FJune 6, where again, emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
Drivers should also be alert to the construction of the Kerry’s Pointe ramp lift beginning on May 5. This construction is poised to cause delays between Badeaux Ln. and Kerry’s Pointe for several weeks. For those navigating around Destrehan, road construction near Rotolo's Pizza at 150 Ormond Center Court stretching to Buddy's Frostop at 3001 Ormond Blvd has led to obstructions, although a detour is in place to facilitate vehicle traffic.
Moving onto state roads, those using LA 48 (3rd Street/River Road), prepare for recurring alternating lane closures with flag operations between I-310 and Apple Street. This will be taking place from May 19 to Friday, May 30, according to information obtained by the parish's news release, impacting traffic daily from 8 AM to 2 PM.
