With the arrival of warmer days, St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation brought a splash of good news this week, announcing the opening of Ormond Spray Park and West Bank Spray Park. According to an update on the official parish website, these aquatic playgrounds opened their gates last Saturday, offering a weekend retreat for families looking to beat the heat.
For the month of May, these refuges from the relentless sun are set to open to eagerly waiting children and parents on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Officials seem to understand well the need to gradually slide into the full swing of summer, as after Memorial Day, the spray parks have plans to extend their operations to Tuesday through Sunday, matching their traditional summer hours.
The convenience doesn't stop with ample operating hours. Starting on May 28, which follows the commemorative sentiments of Memorial Day, locals will be able to enjoy daily splashes from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m., except Mondays, ensuring nearly a whole week of potential aquatic escapades. Yet, as seasons inevitably turn, so too will the park hours; come August 23, the schedule will revert back to weekends only until the seasonal closure on September 28.
There's an additional exclusive offering for those looking to celebrate special occasions at the spray parks. Private rentals are available outside of normal operating hours, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and those interested can easily request to book half or the entire park. According to the information available, renting half of the park will cost $250 and $500 for the full arena.
