St. Petersburg will launch a new Early Learning Guide to support young children and their families. Mayor Kenneth T. Welch, in partnership with Thrive by Five Pinellas, will introduce the guide tomorrow at the West Branch Community Library. The initiative is part of Mayor Welch's Pillar for Progress, focusing on improving education.
As per the City of St. Petersburg, Mayor Kenneth T. Welch said, "The Early Learning Guide is a vital resource created in partnership with Thrive by Five Pinellas, and we're excited to launch this tool for parents and guardians." He is looking forward to invite families to the library to discover the guide and the significance of reading. Welch will also be the guest reader during the event's storytime, aiming to inspire children and caregivers alike by sharing tales that enlighten and entertain.
The library event begins at 10:30 a.m. and is open to children ages 1–5 and their caregivers. After Mayor Welch reads in the children's area, attendees can meet community partners featured in the guide. The event will include activities, refreshments, and information on early childhood programs, literacy, and child development.
Mayor Welch’s Opportunity Agenda shows the city’s focus on improving education and supporting youth success. It offers mentorships, digital literacy training, and hands-on skills programs in fields like construction, plumbing, and auto repair. The goal is to help prepare young people for future jobs and strengthen the local workforce.
