The road closure stemmed from an aggravated robbery suspect fleeing in a stolen vehicle and prompting a standoff after forcing entry into a nearby building. According to Local12, after the suspect had abandoned the stolen vehicle, they managed to barricade himself within an office space, leading to an hour-long standoff with the SWAT team on Victory Parkway and Dana Avenue. The standoff concluded with no reported injuries and the suspect, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was taken into custody.
The stolen vehicle, a crucial piece in the day's events, belonged to Matthew Tallon of Eagle Construction and Concrete. It was taken from a Shell gas station in Fort Wright, where Tallon had been prepping for a "quick easy day" to wash and stain an outdoor deck, turning into anything but that. In a statement given to WLWT, Tallon recounted, "Just happened to be in Fort Wright today, get it washed and stained, and be out of there, be a quick easy day today and it turned out to be exactly about the opposite of that."
After vacating the stolen car, the suspect, identified by court records as 39-year-old Corey Clark, made his way through the woods and into the office building. Cincinnati Police Department highlighted in their engagement that, thankfully, no one was harmed during the standoff or the preceding chase. The suspect's capture was the result of meticulous work by SWAT and law enforcement as they continue to investigate the full scope of the incident, including searching for a possible firearm, as stated by Local12.
