In what appears to be a string of bold thefts, automated teller machines (ATMs) are being targeted by burglars in Chicago. A business on the Southwest Side had an ATM stolen after a burglar shattered the front door and removed the cash machine early Monday morning. This incident, reported by CBS News Chicago, occurred in the 5900 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

Continuing this pattern of theft, a group consisting of two males and a female is suspected of heisting five more ATMs across the West and Northwest Sides on Tuesday and early Wednesday. According to WGN-TV, the group used a black BMW SUV as their getaway vehicle, forcefully entering each business to remove the ATM. Police have released a timeline of the subsequent thefts, which shows the burglaries happening within proximity in time to each other. The first, for instance, took place in the 100 block of North Lamon Avenue at 3:56 a.m. on May 13.

Authorities have not taken anyone into custody for these thefts. "Anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip at cpdtip.com," as stated by WGN-TV.
