The City of Surprise is calling on community members to roll up their sleeves and give blood in response to the typical summertime decline in blood donations. Partnering with Vitalant Blood Donation, the city has announced a series of blood drive events between May and July. According to the city's website, despite the drop in donations during these warmer months, the demand for blood does not wane.

Those interested in contributing to the noble cause are advised to schedule their donation by visiting Vitalant's website and entering the Blood Drive Code p1T62. While walk-ins are to be accommodated certainly, it has been said that donors with appointments will be expedited. The City of Surprise website provides the following schedule for the blood drives: Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Surprise Regional Library (Program Room), May 27, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Surprise City Hall (Community Room), June 27, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Surprise Regional Library (Program Room), and July 27, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Surprise Regional Library (Program Room).

For any queries regarding these events, Jamie Michler is the go-to contact at 623.222.5127. As a token of appreciation, Vitalant is giving away a series of special gifts through its Donor Rewards program. From May 23 to 31, donors can choose from one of four exclusive blood type house T-shirt designs. To further sweeten the deal, these noble givers will be entered to win a vacation package to the Universal Epic Universe theme park in Orlando.

Moreover, between May 23 and September 7, 2025, donors not only have the chance to save lives but will also be entered into a chance to win a 2025 Volkswagen.
