West Palm Beach residents can feel a sense of relief following the arrest of a man authorities have labeled a "serial burglar." Fifty-two-year-old Ricardo Stafford has been taken into custody, suspected of perpetrating a spate of burglaries across several neighborhoods. As reported by the official West Palm Beach website, the arrest followed a multi-agency effort that culminated last Sunday. Stafford is now facing a slew of charges, including 14 counts of attempted burglary and grand theft of a firearm.

It appears that Stafford was quite methodical in his approach, often preying on unsecured homes and vehicles to quickly snatch personal items, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Despite his apparent care to not get caught, detectives were able to link him to crimes in the South End, El Cid, and Villages neighborhoods. In an effort to maintain caution, Stafford is said to have worn a mask when committing a second-degree felony, a charge now added to his rap sheet.

Stafford's criminal record is extensive, stretching back nearly 30 years with prior convictions for similar offenses. According to CBS12, he has been previously convicted in two separate grand theft cases dating back to 1997. His arrest record signals a longstanding battle with the law that has seemingly persisted unabated.

Currently, Stafford is detained at the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center. The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) has recognized the pattern of his alleged crimes and labeled him a serial burglar. WPBPD's findings include both successful and attempted break-ins, not sparing even occupied dwellings. In one case, he is charged with burglary of a dwelling with assault, indicating an escalation in his alleged criminal endeavors.

The WPBPD is urging anyone with additional information related to the burglaries to contact Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County. Stafford, meanwhile, awaits his day in court to answer for the extensive list of charges levied against him.
