The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s District 5 is investigating a shooting that occurred on the evening of May 25, 2025, in the Central West End neighborhood. A 23-year-old man was shot during an altercation with two other males at the Schnucks grocery store in the 4100 block of Lindell.
It was approximately 9:10 p.m. when the sound of gunfire prompted calls to the police. Officers, arriving at the scene discovered the young man injured by gunfire near the store entrance, which led to a preliminary investigation into the incident. Inside the store, an initial confrontation took place, escalating into a heated exchange of words. The situation continued outside, where gunfire was exchanged, and the victim was struck multiple times, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Following the incident, the suspects fled the parking lot and evaded capture. Emergency services arrived quickly, and EMS transported the injured man to a hospital, where he is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation into the full circumstances and timeline of the shooting is ongoing, according to a statement from SLMPD. Authorities are asking neighbors and witnesses to provide any information that may assist in the investigation.
