Two individuals were taken into custody in the early hours of Sunday in Salt Lake City's Glendale neighborhood, following reports of a drive-by shooting. Salt Lake City Police were summoned to the scene near 1200 South and 900 West around 5 a.m. after receiving a caller's distressing report. According to KUTV, the caller identified the suspects as his ex-girlfriend and her cousin, alleging they had fired at his residence before fleeing the scene.
The search for the suspect vehicle was brief and resulted in the arrest of the pair on multiple charges, including aggravated assault and felony discharge of a firearm, as reported by FOX13. When officers located and stopped the vehicle, evidence was recovered, linking the two to the shooting incident. Moreover, while no one was injured, a tree became an unlikely victim, struck by a stray bullet during the event.
Thankfully, the incident did not escalate to human casualties or significant property damage, as KSLTV reports emphasized that nobody was harmed. In their coverage, police reiterated the absence of injuries and property damage, albeit the unexpected mark on a nearby tree that bore evidence of the firearm's discharge.
