A string of vehicle break-ins has disturbed the peace of Sweetwater, as reported by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The burglar or burglars, whose identities are yet to be uncovered, ransacked multiple vehicles in the quiet city and its environs during the dead of night between May 16 and 17.

In a bid to pinpoint the culprit, Sheriff Tommy Jones took to social media, where the sheriff's office implored the public to come forward with any information that would lead to an arrest. A suspect caught on a security camera is the current lead. "Help us locate the suspect(s) responsible for these criminal acts," urged the post on Sheriff Tommy Jones' Facebook page. Stolen items range from valuables and tools to a child's flute, the latter a necessity for upcoming band events.

Authorities are now calling on residents, especially those around Overhill Drive and the 400 to 500 blocks of Hawkins Road, to scour through their security footage between 11:45 PM on Friday and 6:00 AM Saturday. They hope that the eyes of the community might witness something previously overlooked and lead to a break in the case. Contacts for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Sweetwater Police Department have been made available, along with the option to remain anonymous. "Your information is very valuable in helping solve cases," the social media post proclaimed.
