A fire erupted within the confines of a residential garage on Tanqueray Drive on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials. The blaze, reported at approximately 1:38 p.m., was initially detected by the residence's 12-year-old occupant, who smelled smoke emanating from the garage and promptly evacuated the premises.
The fire department's swift response led to the revealing of light smoke and water flowing from under the garage door, a signal that the fire suppression system was engaged. According to a press release by the city's fire department, a fire sprinkler head had activated and extinguished the flames before they could escalate. The response team, which included four engine companies, a truck company, and a Battalion Chief, conducted a thorough check for potential spread of the fire, confirming the absence of further danger.
No injuries to the firefighters were reported, and the occupant's early recognition of the hazard was instrumental in avoiding any personal harm.
