Las Cruces residents on Idaho Avenue witnessed a sudden disturbance on Monday evening when a fire broke out in a residential backyard, ravaging a shed and drawing a quick response from the local fire department. As reported by the City of Las Cruces, firefighters received a call yesterday regarding the blaze at approximately 6:40 p.m.
Upon arrival at the 1800 block of Idaho Avenue, the first crew to respond to the scene found a large shed being consumed by heavy smoke. Working swiftly, the fire was brought under control within a mere 10 minutes. Luckily, no injuries have been reported coming from the incident, with the crew's fast-acting measures likely preventing what could have been a more dire situation.
While the blaze was promptly extinguished, the damage inflicted on the structure was considerable. The intense heat from the fire also managed to leave its mark on several nearby surfaces, altering the familiar landscape of the property's backyard. The investigation into what sparked the conflagration is still in progress, and the financial cost of the damage wrought by the fire remains to be calculated.
