A shooting on Pirkle Road in Norcross earlier this month resulted in the death of a 17-year-old, Andrew Gatlin of Lilburn. Gwinnett County police officers from the West Precinct responded to the scene and found Gatlin suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the Gwinnett County government website.
Two juvenile suspects have been charged with felony murder and other serious offenses in connection with the incident. Authorities believe the individuals met for an unknown reason before a dispute escalated into gunfire. In addition to Gatlin, two others sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to a children's hospital in Atlanta.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit, along with members of the Crime Scene Unit, responded to the location. Investigators interviewed witnesses and neighbors in an effort to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting. Preliminary findings suggest the individuals involved met and an altercation ensued.
Gwinnett County Police are continuing to investigate and are asking the public for any information that may assist the case. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward if their information leads to an arrest and indictment. Reports can be submitted directly to GCPD detectives or through the Crime Stoppers website. The investigation is ongoing.
