Yesterday morning, a 17-year-old boy was injured following a shooting in Midtown, with the Memphis Police Department (MPD) detailing that the incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. along the 500 block of South Barksdale Street. Information obtained by FOX13 highlights neighbors' reports that the area contains many short-term rental properties, such as Airbnbs, and there is an ongoing effort to ascertain if one of these properties was the site of the shooting.
The victim was transported to Methodist University Hospital by private car and was reportedly in non-critical condition, as stated by police. Meanwhile, the Memphis Police Department has detained three individuals in connection with the incident, according to details from an Action News 5 report. Officers had responded to the shots-fired call just before the stated time of 3:25 a.m.
The condition of the young victim remains stable, as mentioned by the Local Memphis report, which affirmed that he is in non-critical condition. The Memphis Police Department continues investigating, with the three suspects currently in custody.
