Commuters in Calcasieu Parish, take note. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has signaled a lane closure that's bound to impact your evening travel come this Sunday. According to a DOTD announcement, the left lane on I-10 Eastbound will be temporarily shuttered, stretching from Mile Marker 29.9 to Mile Marker 30.7 starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, and the closure will stand firm until 5 a.m. the following morning.
The closure is set to allow crews to safely perform guardrail repairs. This maintenance work is, of course, contingent on the whims of the weather. Those planning to traverse this stretch of the interstate should prepare to adjust their travel plans accordingly and to swiftly yet conscientiously alter their routes.
In what's become a familiar plea from the DOTD, patience is requested from travelers. A "safety reminder" issued alongside the closure notice urges drivers "to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment." Area residents are also advised to remain vigilant when driving, walking, or biking near the construction zones, reiterating the importance of safety in areas where such work is ongoing.
