
Rock legends The Who will perform at Fenway Park in Boston as part of their farewell tour, "The Song is Over." The tour features Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend performing a collection of their songs spanning nearly six decades. Their Boston stop is scheduled for August 26, according to Boston 25 News.
General ticket sales begin Friday next week at 10 a.m., while members of The Who Fan Club can access a presale starting Tuesday next week In a statement to CBS News Boston, Daltrey said, "It's not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been. Thanks for being there for us and look forward to seeing you one last time."
The band, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, will perform 16 shows across North America. Townshend told CBS News Boston, "Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans, and hopefully to new ones who might jump in to see what they have been missing for the last 57 years. This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in."
Daltrey added in a statement to Boston 25 News, “The warmth of the American audiences over the years has been inspirational to me, and reflects the feeling I remember getting after hearing the first rock records coming across the radio.”
