A confrontation at a Knoxville Walmart culminated in the arrest of three individuals, including two minors, after police recovered loaded firearms from a stolen vehicle. The Knoxville Police Department reported to the Walmart on Kinzel Way around 6 p.m. Sunday when a man identified his father's missing vehicle, a KIA Optima, in the parking lot. The suspects were promptly located, with two of the adolescents attempting to separately flee from the officers.
According to WVLT, upon arriving at the scene, police received descriptions of the suspects from witnesses. A 16-year-old was caught near the store's entrance after he tried to run, while the 19-year-old suspect, identified as Jarvon Rucker, proceeded to hastily exit the Walmart and race across the parking lot. He was eventually detained at a nearby gas station. A third individual, aged 17, was located inside the store and taken into custody without incident.
The investigation resulted in the discovery of two loaded handguns along with a drum magazine, packed with .40 caliber ammunition, inside the stolen car. WATE reported that, following the search, all three suspects were charged with counts of auto theft and weapons possession. Furthermore, Rucker and one juvenile face additional charges for their attempts to evade arrest.
WBIR adds that the Knoxville Police Department has not released further details about the case or the identities of the minors involved. They confirm that the 16-year-old was detained shortly after trying to hastily make an escape, indicating a clear pattern of reckless decision-making during the incident. The investigation into how and why the juveniles came to possess the stolen vehicle and firearms is ongoing.
