Three individuals are now in custody in connection with a homicide that occurred in April on Marietta Boulevard NW in Atlanta. Through a combined enforcement effort, Denis Manuel Velasquez Rivera, Madelin Garcia, and Hector Paz were arrested last Frida in Norcross, GA, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Denis Manuel Velasquez Rivera and several alleged accomplices are facing serious charges, including murder and armed robbery. These charges stem from the tragic death of Angela Yajahira Cortes Villegas, whose life was cut short on April 20.
In a preliminary statement released by the police, it was reported that on April 20, at approximately 5:54 PM, officers were called to a wooded area at 2000 Marietta Boulevard NW. Upon arrival, they found Villegas deceased with gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Further investigation into the victim's identity revealed her to be Villegas, a 20-year-old from Utah, a revelation shared close to a month after the horrific incident, as detailed by the Atlanta Police Department.
