Heads up to all the late-night drivers and the early commuters: if you're hitting Interstate 30 this week, be prepared for a spate of construction-induced inconveniences. According to a notice from Rockwall County, Texas, there are multiple lane closures to keep in mind from SH205 all the way to the Hunt County line.

Starting Sunday and stretching through Thursday, May 22nd, I-30 Eastbound's left lane from FM 548 to FM 2642 will be shut down overnight between 9 PM and 5 AM for bridge activities at FM 35 and Sabine Creek. This sounds like a lot, but spare a thought for those working high above, harness strapped, betwixt metal and sky. Meanwhile, the westbound left lane from FM 2642 back to FM 548 will undergo a similar nightly shutdown during the same hours for bridge work in the same locations.

There's more for folks traveling eastbound. The left lane at FM 3549 will close every night from May 18 until Friday, May 23, for a slew of activities, including embankment work, removals, and bridge construction, again in the witching hours from 9 PM to 5 AM.

Daytime travelers aren't getting off lightly either; from Monday, May 19th through Thursday, May 22nd, the John King East to West U-turn, and conversely the West to East U-turn will be closed for bridge activities from 9 AM to 3 PM, this alongside FM 548's flagging operation, where drainage and bridge work at Pond Branch will also be causing stop-and-go traffic. Frontage roads are not spared either, as the 30 Eastbound Frontage Road's left lane from SH 205 to Townsend Dr., and its western counterpart from Townsend Dr to SH 205, will see lane closures for drainage work happening from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Also, take note that starting Monday, May 19th, the westbound frontage road right turn lane at FM 548 won't be available due to drainage work ensuing there, and in a slice of good news, no closures will take place starting 5:00 AM on Friday (5/23) through to 10:00 PM on Monday (05/26) to allow for a smoother Memorial Day weekend travel experience. Even with the hassles of construction, essential services such as EMS, fire, and police will still have access through the closures should emergencies arise.
