Chase Center, the emblematic arena of the Golden State Warriors, unexpectedly hosted a trio of furry intruders yesterday. Shared in a post from the San Francisco Animal Care & Control's Instagram account, the agency detailed an unlikely rescue of three baby raccoons trapped within a wall of the sports and entertainment complex.
It commenced when a concerned call alerted the animal rescue officers to the presence of the animals. Quickly at the scene, efforts led by Lt. Steph Ryer resulted in saving two of the raccoons. However, the third one found its head stuck, rendering it immobile and thus extending the rescue operation. As documented in the social media post, the persistence of several officers, including Officer Keefe and an officer-in-training named Borg, culminated in nudging the raccoon safely into freedom after rearranging its body and prying the wall tile further open.
In a follow-up move ensuring the well-being of the rescued mammals, they were placed under the care of local wildlife organization Yggdrasil Wildlife, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. Concerns about the safety and potential for recurrence of such incidents have been raised, prompting advice to impede wildlife from making unintended incursions into human-constructed edifices.
