Residents and travelers in Tulsa should prepare for a temporary closure of South Hudson Avenue at East 51st Street South starting Monday next week. The closure is part of a street rehabilitation project aimed at improving the condition of the area’s roads.
According to a City of Tulsa press release, the closure will remain in effect until Wednesday next week. During this time, drivers are advised to follow posted detour signs around the construction area. The project will include milling the current road surface, patching damaged areas, and repaving. Sidewalks and curbs will also be upgraded.
The work is being carried out in partnership with Ellsworth Construction and is funded by $3,703,000 from the Improve Our Tulsa sales tax extension. The full project is expected to be completed by May 2026.
